Verdict: A fast, generous tycoon that turns $1 into trillions in about 26 minutes, with genuinely strange events along the way. The mid-game is mostly standing at a desk buying upgrades, but the text-offer haggling and the surprises keep it moving.
Key takeaways
- Score: 4 out of 5 stars. Worth playing if you like idle and tycoon games.
- You start with $1 and a $1 lemon stand. In our session we hit $1M at about 6 minutes, $1B at about 14 and $1T at about 20.
- Always counter the text offers: in our session every counter raised the price, by 30% to 80%.
- Two pricey upgrades (ceiling lights $410M, metal brace $1.4T) are decorations that don't speed anything up.
- We didn't reach World 2, the Orchard or the Sewer yet, so this review doesn't cover them.

How Sell Lemons works
You get a letter with $1 in it, and the first lemon stand costs exactly $1. Clicking sells lemons; every upgrade either sells more per second or speeds the whole business up. Before long a cash register clicks for you, and from there the game becomes a loop of earning and buying the next upgrade, while buyers text you offers for your lemons.
One dollar. Dad's never given me anything before. The stand also costs exactly one dollar. It's almost as if he knew.
Every upgrade and price we saw
In the order we reached them. Prices are from the shop screens in our session.
| Upgrade | Price | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Lemon stand | $1 | Your first business. Each click sells a few lemons ($0.86 a click at first). |
| Juicer | $6.20 | Adds drinks to the stand. |
| Cash register | Price not captured | Clicks for you and comes with a cashier, so money comes in on its own. |
| Billboard | $785 | 3x speed. |
| Sugar mixer | $105,000 | Seen in the shop early on. |
| Manager | $995,000 | Seen in the shop; we held off at first, so we didn't measure its effect. |
| Street fliers | $1.1 million | 2x speed. |
| LemonDash | Price not captured | Bicycle lemon delivery; comes with an office desk and chair. |
| Ceiling lights | $410 million | Decoration only. No speed boost. |
| Buy one, get one free | $20 billion | The game says it makes about 4x the money. |
| Lemon Depot | $13.5 billion | A warehouse; also unlocks teleporting between your businesses. |
| Bigger fleet of lorries | $58 billion | Delivery upgrade. |
| Metal brace | $1.4 trillion | Decoration only. No speed boost. |
The ceiling lights don't do anything. I want them more than I've ever wanted anything.
Text offers: always ask for more
Throughout the game, buyers text you offers for your lemons. You can accept or push back. We countered every time, and every counter raised the price:
| Offer | First offer | Final price | Gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| First buyer | $7.7 million | $10 million | +30% |
| Coded texts | $25 billion | $45 billion (after two counters) | +80% |
| Returning buyer | $446 billion | $636 billion | +43% |
| Last buyer | $39 trillion | $58 trillion (after two counters) | +49% |
One run of texts arrived in a simple letter-shift code. You don't need to read it to take the money.
Rule one of negotiation: never take the first offer. Rule two: I don't know rule two.
Events and secrets we ran into
- A UFO over your stand. It hovers for a while, then beams down. A small yellow alien appears and just stands next to you.
- A purple hole in the air. A big purple rift opens next to the stand. We didn't find out what it does.
- Swirly walls. Everything goes swirly and a corner label says 4.2x faster, without us buying anything.
- Exploding money bag. A bag of money bursts on you. Free cash.
- The faceless man in a top hat. Visits the stand near the end and says he likes what you're doing.
- Later businesses. A crypto-mining cave full of gold coins and a lime trading floor open up in the trillions.
Tips for a faster run
- Counter every text offer at least once. In our session, every counter raised the price, and none of the buyers walked away.
- Buy speed first: the billboard (3x) and street fliers (2x) pay for themselves fastest early on.
- Skip the decorations until you're rich. Ceiling lights and the metal brace look great and do nothing for income.
- Grab the Lemon Depot when you can: teleporting between businesses saves a lot of walking.
- Keep an eye on your phone: buyers text you offers throughout the game, and the big payouts come from them.
Pros and cons
What we liked
- Very quick sense of progress: $1 to trillions in under half an hour
- Text-offer haggling is a smart little mini-game
- Strange events (UFO, purple rift, faceless visitor) make it memorable
- We needed no Robux for the whole session
What could be better
- The middle stretch is mostly standing and buying upgrades
- Expensive decorations look like upgrades but give no boost
- Events aren't explained, so you're left guessing what they do
